The Labour government that came into office on 5 July following the general election has lifted the de facto ban on onshore wind.
The ban was put in place by the Conservative government in June 2015 with an announcement by Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and it immediately resulted in a halt to virtually all onshore wind projects in England and Wales, see plans put on hold.
The Labour party promised, in its election manifesto, to lift the ban and they have promptly done so within a few days of taking office, see onshore wind ban lifted.
This is great news and I applaud the government for its swift action.
