As western governments generally still shy away from calling Israel’s actions in Gaza what it really is, i.e. genocide, B’Tselem, the human rights group within Israel itself, is now using the label of genocide to describe its nation’s action.
It says, "For nearly two years, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza, acting in a systematic, deliberate way to destroy Palestinian society there through mass killing, causing serious bodily and mental harm and creating catastrophic conditions that prevent its continued existence in Gaza. Israel is openly promoting ethnic cleansing and the destruction of life-sustaining infrastructure for individuals and the group, with 2 million people starved, displaced, bombed and left by the world to die. The genocide must be stopped.”

Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, people can be, and are being, arrested and charged with terrorism for holding up a sign saying simply “Palestine Action”. The Prime Minister and other Cabinet members are starting to express some criticism of Israeli government actions but are still too afraid of the vocal pro-Israeli lobby groups to call it what it is or to impose serious sanctions, boycotts or arms embargos on what is a rogue state.
