Council scrutiny committee will not investigate allegation of lying
8 October 2021

On 28 September, I wrote to John Keeling chairman of the Customers and Support Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee asking him to ensure that his committee looks into the allegation that the M.D. of Corserv had lied in her evidence to the independent inquiry into the Cormac health and safety incident.

Mr Keeling has now replied as follows:
"Dear Bob, I have been thinking about your request and I conclude that this is not a matter that CASSOSC is able to deal even if there were some the latitude in the committee’s work program, which there is not. It is also a fact that this does not fall within the remit of my committee and there are other mechanisms that you could follow via the council’s monitoring officer, ombudsman or even further legal routes. Perhaps you would like to contact the CEO for further advice. I am also conscious that your question was answered by the Leader at full council. My apologies for not replying earlier but there was a lot to think about and these are busy times for all of us.
Regards
John Keeling MBE"
